My story
Why I do this work.
Seeking therapy is a proactive step towards self-care and personal growth. As a therapist, I provide a non-judgmental, empathic, and safe environment where clients can explore their challenges and work towards positive change.
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with the HPCSA, offering a compassionate and integrative approach to therapy. I work collaboratively with clients to support emotional well-being and personal growth, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to individual needs and goals.
I became a psychologist because I believe everyone deserves a place where they can be fully heard, where they don't have to hold it all together, perform, or explain themselves before they are understood.
I know that reaching out can feel daunting, especially if talking about feelings wasn't something your family did, or if you're usually the one everyone else leans on. You don't need the right words, or to know exactly what's wrong. We can start with whatever is on your mind today.
Mind Check is a small, personal practice. When you get in touch, you'll speak with me, and the person you meet in your first session is the person you'll work with.
How I work
Integrative, collaborative and shaped around you.
No single approach suits everyone. I draw on several ways of working and choose what is helpful for you, and we set goals together. You bring the knowledge of your own life; I bring training, curiosity and care.
Integrative
Drawing on several evidence-based approaches, shaped around your needs and goals.
Psychodynamic
Understanding how earlier experiences and unconscious patterns shape how you feel today.
Attachment-based
Exploring how early bonds influence your relationships, and building more secure connections.
Relational
Using the therapeutic relationship itself as a place to notice, heal and practise new ways of relating.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Practical skills for managing intense emotions, distress and relationships.
Not sure what any of this means?
You don't need to. We'll talk about how I work in our first session, and you're welcome to ask anything about the approach, the process or me.
Qualifications
Qualifications & registration.
I am registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a clinical psychologist and I follow its ethical rules, including those that protect your confidentiality. You're welcome to check my registration with the HPCSA.
